Data Extraction

Two streams merged inside your AWS account: Allocation and User Mapping data from FinOps Center (DynamoDB), and CUR 2.0 data from S3. CUR knows what was spent. FinOps Center knows who owns it. Together they produce workload-attributed AI spend.

Role-Scoped Athena Queries

The merged dataset is queried via Amazon Athena with per-role Row-Level Security baked into the query layer. A Product Owner's query physically cannot return another team's rows. This is the security boundary, not a display filter.

Amazon Quick Spaces per Role

Each curated Topic is published into a role-specific Amazon Quick Space. Space membership is managed by the FinOps Center onboarding process. A Product Owner can only be added to their Product Owner Space, never the FinOps Lead Space.

MCP Server as Quick Action

A Model Context Protocol server is registered as a Quick Action inside each Amazon Quick Space. Authenticated via Cognito. All writes go through FinOps Center AppSync resolvers. Agent Bill can not only answer questions about AI spend, it can trigger governance actions without leaving the conversation.

Embedded in FinOps Center

Agent Bill is integrated directly into the FinOps Center web application. The authenticated Cognito session is passed to the Amazon Quick embedding layer with no second login. Agent Bill context is pre-seeded with the user's current view.

Amazon Quick Desktop

Agent Bill is also surfaced through Amazon Quick Desktop. The FinOps Center MCP server is registered as a connector. The same RLS enforcement applies. Quick Actions are available from the desktop for governance actions.
